Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with each of you and keep the entire Caleb Mission family healthy and safe during this summer season.
This year marks 27 years since Caleb Mission’s ministry began and the 20th anniversary of our official establishment as an organization.
As we prepare for our anniversary celebration, I recently visited the coast of Gunsan, where I spent part of my childhood, to purchase fresh seafood for our guests. Being there brought back memories of the early years of our ministry, when we traveled by boat from Gunsan toward the waters near North Korea to help rescue North Korean escapees. Those dangerous journeys, later documented in Crossing Heaven’s Border: Smuggling, remain powerful reminders of God’s protection and guidance.
By God’s grace and through your faithful prayers, four more North Korean escapees were rescued last week. To date, Caleb Mission has helped 1,072 North Korean escapees reach South Korea.
We are especially thankful that recently rescued women are now receiving gospel-centered discipleship training at our ministry center in Southeast Asia. Our missionaries, ministry workers, and prayer partners are serving together so that those who are rescued may not only find physical freedom, but also encounter Jesus Christ and grow in faith.
For 27 years, God has sustained this ministry through the prayers, sacrifice, and partnership of people like you. If He continues to give me strength, I pray that I may keep serving faithfully and help rescue even one more precious life.
Yet our greatest hope is for the day when rescue work will no longer be necessary—the day when North and South Korea are reunited and the Gospel can be freely proclaimed throughout the Korean Peninsula.
Even today, North Korean escapees in China continue to contact us, pleading for help. We pray not only for their safety and freedom, but also that the seed of the Gospel planted in their lives will bear lasting fruit for the future of North Korea.
To commemorate Caleb Mission’s 20th anniversary, we will hold a special celebration at our community center for North Korean escapees. Thank you for standing with us through your prayers and faithful partnership. Please continue to pray with us as we follow wherever God leads next.
Indebted to love,
Pastor Seungeun Kim
