Hallelujah! I pray that the God of peace will be with each of you! As autumn settles in, I hope you are all staying healthy.

Yesterday, I received a phone call from a North Korean woman rescued by Caleb Mission who is currently staying at Hanawon, South Korea's resettlement center for North Korean escapees.

She recently visited Haenam, a beautiful coastal town in southern South Korea. As she traveled by train and stood by the ocean, she began to cry.

“I can ride a train and stand by the ocean without being afraid of anyone. This is what freedom means. I am finally free.”

For 22 years, she lived in China without legal identification, constantly fearing arrest and forced repatriation to North Korea. Even leaving her home was frightening.

After 22 years of fear, she was finally experiencing freedom.

She told me, “Pastor, thank you so much. Above all, I am grateful that I have come to believe in Jesus and found true freedom in Him. Now I can also live freely without fear.”

She then shared her desire to move to Cheonan, where our church is located.

“I may not have money to give, but even if all I can do is clean the church floors, I want to serve God. He has placed this desire in my heart.”

Her words brought tears to my eyes.

Rescuing North Korean escapees and helping them rebuild their lives is never easy.

Sometimes, despite the sacrifices, we see little visible fruit. But moments like this remind us why God has called us to this ministry.

As more North Korean escapees settle near our church and become part of our community, we need additional space to welcome them. We recently added another mobile home, and we anticipate needing more as our community grows.

I believe rescuing precious lives, sharing the Gospel, and raising up North Korean believers for the evangelization and reunification of Korea bring great joy to God's heart.

None of this would be possible without your faithful prayers, love, and sacrificial support.

Please continue praying that our North Korean brothers and sisters will experience healing, restoration, and a true sense of belonging in Christ.

Thank you for walking alongside us in this ministry. God bless you all!

In Christ's love,

Pastor Seungeun Kim
